Citizenship Ceremonies
Choosing to become an Australian Citizen is an important expression of commitment to Australia
Initial enquiries regarding Australian citizenship, applications and approval should be directed to Australian Citizenship. The Department of Immigration and Citizenship is open from 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday and can be contacted directly on 131 880.
Once a citizenship application has been approved the Department of Immigration and Citizenship will correspond with the applicant to advise the citizenship ceremony details.
Attending a ceremony
Mackay Regional Council conducts citizenship ceremonies throughout the year. Popular days to have citizenship ceremonies are:
- Australia Day - January 26
- Harmony Day - March 21
- Queensland Day - June 6
