Local laws and policies
Under the Local Government Act, Mackay Regional Council has the authority to create and enforce local laws and council policies.
Local laws and council policies cover areas such as:
- Food hygiene
- Footpath dining
- Keeping pets
- Permits and licences

Note: Be aware that council is currently in the process of updating all local laws and policies to cover the region and therefore not all previous council versions may be available.
Adoption of Policy
In accordance with Section 45 of the Local Government (Operations) Regulation 2010 Council is required to maintain and adopt by resolution a policy detailing how it will reimburse Councillors for expenses incurred in the performance of their responsibilities. Council adopted amendments to its existing policy on the 20th October, 2010 making only minor changes to the former policy.
