Submit your Mackay 150 on council’s online calendar
It’s shaping up to be a full year of celebrations and council wants to hear about your event or activity by lodging it on the Mackay 150 Event Calender.
Mayor Col Meng said it’s important that all organisations, charity groups and schools participate in the 2012 sesquicentennial commemorations.
“We want to provide a one-stop shop where people can get information about specific Mackay 150 celebrations,” he said.
“Our website calendar is easily accessible and very user friendly,” he said.
Cr Meng said the Mackay 150 event calendar is open to any private, public or not for profit group.
“It’s simply a case of getting online, providing the details and submitting your event,” he said.
Cr Meng said many different organisations have their own event calendars, but he encouraged all event organisers to ensure their details were included on the council calendar.
“We have over 38,000 unique visitors or 1.6 million hits to the website every month and this is a great way to publicise your community or charity event,” he said.

Council already has a number of events planned during 2012 to commemorate Mackay’s 150.
“It is a significant achievement for our city and region, so we want the entire community to be part of the celebrations,” he said.
Mackay Regional Council’s first major event for 2012 will be Australia Day festivities in Sarina, the Pioneer Valley and Mackay on January 26.
Cr Meng said all council-organised events during 2012 will have a heritage theme to commemorate the region’s sesquicentennial.
