Right to Information
The Right to Information Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009 came into effect on 1 July 2009, replacing the Freedom of Information laws.
The aim is to:
- Maximise public access to information held by government (unless on balance it is contrary to the public interest to provide that information)
- Provide appropriate protection for individuals’ privacy
The act applies to all Queensland government agencies – including departments, boards, statutory authorities and councils.
