City Focus Business Forum - Monday, October 4, 2010
The City Focus Business Forum, held at the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre (MECC), on Monday, October 4, 2010, attracted more than 130 people.
Economic Development portfolio councillor and City Focus Chair, Cr Dave Perkins said, working in partnership with local businesses is integral to maximising the economic potential of our region. "Face-to-face forums, such as this one held in the City, coupled with using council's rapidly growing City Focus Business Network is a great way to keep in close contact with local business people and help council gather information on the future direction of growth and development in the area".
The participation of all who attended this business event is very much appreciated. Around 25 very high quality business displays and government information booths were showcased at this forum helping to highlight the diverse range of business and services available in Mackay's City Centre.
Among the top priorities for the City, indicated by the evening's attendants, are transport, parking and pedestrian access as well as enhancement of the City Centre's urban environment to maintain and improve its position as the premier centre serving the region.
Information from the forum will continue to be collated and distributed to all members of the City Focus Business Email Network and will be presented to council for further consideration.
