Local Area Plans
A Local Area Plan is developed to strategically plan future land uses, infrastructure and projected populations for small specific localities. The Local Area Planning process involves Council representatives, key developers, various state government departments and community group representatives in the initial planning phases. Once conceptual ideas have been mapped public consultation is undertaken.
A number of Local Area Plans (LAPs) are currently being developed within the Mackay Region, once completed these LAPs will influence the development of the new Mackay 200k+ Regional Planning Scheme.
