McCready's Creek and Pioneer River Flood Studies (ongoing)
McCready’s Creek South Flood Study
The McCready's Creek South catchment is located within the Glenella, Mt Pleasant, Richmond and Beaconsfield suburbs. The study area consists mainly of farm land with urban development in the catchment.
McCready's Creek South Stormwater Trunk Infrastructure Study considers the existing flooding and drainage problems and identifies an acceptable solution for stormwater infrastructure for a 5 year and potential ultimate development scenario. An integrated plan for waterway management in McCready's Creek south catchment will enhance the environmental values and future development opportunities.
Pioneer River Flood Study
The Pioneer River is a major natural feature within Mackay region. Since the 1970s, numerous hydrologic and hydraulic studies have been undertaken to assess flood behavior along the river, using a range of different modelling approaches and topographic data. Given the importance of Pioneer River flood behavior to planning and development in and around Mackay, Council is undertaking a comprehensive flood study of the lower Pioneer River floodplain using current hydraulic modelling software and updated topographic data.
