Council provides skateparks at various locations and runs school holiday competitions at selected locations throughout the region:

  • John Breen Skatepark

  • Mirani Skatepark
  • Sarina Skatepark
  • Slade Point Skatepark
  • Walkerston Skatepark

Bucasia Skatepark

Located in front of Hibiscus shopping centre on Mackay-Bucasia Road, Bucasia.

John Breen Skatepark

Corner of Malcomson and Glenpark Street, North Mackay.

  • Oldest regional skatepark

Kemmis Park

Corner of Milton and George Streets, South Mackay.

  • Council runs a skateboard competition here every year

Mirani Skatepark

Located in George Johnson Park, Caroline Street, Mirani, adjacent to Eungella Road.

  • Close to community hall and half court basketball court
  • Only skate facility in the Pioneer Valley
  • Compact design
  • Family friendly zone

Sarina Skatepark

Located behind council building on Broad Street, Sarina.

Slade Point Skatepark

Corner of Wren Street and The Esplanade, Slade Point.

  • Water fountain
  • Council runs a yearly skateboard competition called ‘The Sladie Slaughter’

Walkerston Skatepark

Called the Luke Payne Memorial Skatepark and located on Kellys Road, Walkerston. 

  • Water fountain
  • Council runs yearly skateboard competitions in Walkerston and a perpetual trophy is donated by the Payne family every year
