Mackay City Council offers flexible working arrangements, self study assistance, health and well-being intiatives, generous superannuation, relocation assistance and short term rental assistance. 

Employment benefits

All staff are employed under the terms of the Mackay CIty Council Union Collective Agreement (No:06856960) or the Mackay City Council Certified Agreement (State) 2003.

Hours

Employees under the Mackay CIty Council Union Collective Agreement (No:06856960), work 36.25 hours per week.

Employees under the Mackay City Council Certified Agreement (State) 2003, work 38 hours per week.

Overtime

All approved overtime is applied at applicable penalty rates.  Alternatively, where approved, employees can take time off in lieu (TOIL) for additional hours worked.

Vehicle

In some instances, employees may be supplied with a work vehicle which may be used to travel to and from work.

Superannuation

Mackay City Council contributes 12 per cent superannuation when the employee contributes 6 per cent towards superannuation under the Mackay CIty Council Union Collective Agreement (No:06856960).

For employees working under the Mackay City Council Certified Agreement (State) 2003, Council will contribute 13 per cent superannuation when the employee contributes 6 per cent towards superannuation.

Health and well-being initiatives

Some of the health and well-being initiatives supplied by Mackay City Council include:

  • pilates
  • performance @ Work - 12 month discounts program at various local retailers

Annual leave

All full-time and part-time employees are entitled to four weeks annual leave with 17.5 per cent leave loading.

Corporate Structure

The current organisational structure aligns Council’s four departments and its business units with Corporate Plan goals and objectives, giving a much clearer focus to Council’s overall direction. The departments mirror Council’s standing committees and reflect Council’s move towards being more responsive, capable and dynamic.
