Indigenous collection
The indigenous collection (located at Mackay City and Gordon White libraries) ensures Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and South Sea Islander resources, culture and traditions are represented in the public library space.
The collection is designed to both enhance information access and equity for Aboriginal, Torres Strait and South Sea Islander peoples, as well as to promote a greater understanding of indigenous cultures to the wider community.
All library customers may borrow from this unique collection. It includes:

- Picture books
- Music CDs
- Audio books
- DVDs and videos
- Children's puzzles
- Biographies
You will also find items for and about Aboriginal Australians, Torres Strait Islanders and South Sea Islanders scattered amongst our general collections; these can be identified by the special labels.
