Mackay libraries provide many resources and services for people from non-English speaking backgrounds and people who have relocated to the region from overseas.
Languages & Literacy collection
The Languages & Literacy (LAL) collection contain resources aimed at encouraging adult literacy, and for speakers of other languages learning English. The libraries also provide fiction and non-fiction books in other languages. They can be found in our Languages Other Than English (LOTE) collection.
MyLanguage
MyLanguage is a partnership between the state libraries of NSW, QLD, SA, VIC, WA and the NT and ACT Library and Information Services. MyLanguage provides access to over six million information links through search engines, web directories, government websites, digital library projects and syndicated news headlines in nearly 60 languages other than English.
