Roads

Mackay Regional Council is committed to maintaining its vast road network for the region's residents. 

With more than 4,000 kilometres of roads, footpaths, cycle ways kerb and channeling to maintain, council crews are frequently out and about. 

Road works include:

  • Constructing roads,
    bikeways and footpaths
  • Road shoulders
  • Street sweeping
  • Marking lines on roads
  • Grading rural roads
  • Repairing bridges
  • Drains
  • Bus shelters
  • Off-street parking
  • Quarry operations
  • Traffic signals
    • Council is also part of the North Queensland Road Alliance (NQRA) which aims to secure funding for upgrades to the Bruce Highway from Sarina to Cairns.
