The gatehouse
Due to the strict environmental controls necessary to operate the new facilities customers will pay disposal fees at the gatehouse. Residents will be charged a flat fee for waste disposal which is determined by the type of vehicle delivering the waste.
The gatehouse also has a weighbridge to weigh waste brought in by trucks as commercial and industrial waste.
When the appropriate fees have been paid, a ticket is issued and you can continue on to the waste transfer station or the green waste area.
It is important to keep the issued ticket as it has a barcode on it which when scanned on exit will enable your vehicle to leave the waste management centre.
Waste disposal fees are paid at the gatehouse.
Transfer station
Driving in to the transfer station, the first area on the right is where commerical and industrial operators dispose of waste.
Residential rubbish can be disposed of on the other side of the transfer station.
Safety barriers around the edge of the waste pit prevent vehicles from reversing or parking too close to the edge and floor attendants are on site to guide people to appropriate bays.
When inside the transfer station, children under the age of 12 must remain in the car and footwear must be worn by anyone stepping outside of the vehicle. Smoking is not permitted inside the transfer station.
Once the vehicle is stopped, the rubbish can be thrown in to the pit.
When all rubbish for disposal has been thrown in to the pit and the vehicle is secure, follow the exit signs to leave the transfer station.
