Discover Mackay Treasure Trail

Ahoy, me hearties! Round up yer scallywag shipmates and start practisin' your best pirate roar, because the Discover Mackay Treasure Trail is back. Arrrr!

The council treasure trail will set sail from Saturday, September 14 to Sunday, September 29.

There will be 11 mystery locations to discover and thousands of dollars in prizes up for grabs! Any team who completes the whole trail will go in the draw to win one of three major prizes and the first 40 teams to finish will receive an automatic prize – a FREE Discover Mackay gift pack! The gift pack will include a Discover Mackay drawstring bag, towel, football rocket, sunglasses and puzzle.

Eleven hidden locations are waiting to be discovered across the Mackay region in every direction - north, south, east and west.

Each mystery destination has a treasure trail corflute or poster on display with a QR code listed. Scan the QR code with your phone and complete the challenge that pops up.

Use the clues on this web page to find each mystery location (FYI the clues will be uploaded shortly).
Find the Discover Mackay corflute at the location and scan the QR code with a smart phone. Complete the entry form that pops up, including any questions or challenges.
Email communications@mackay.qld.gov.au to let us know when you're finished!

*Note: some locations will require a photo or video to be taken and uploaded to the council website. If you do not want your photo/video to be used for future promotions, please tick the non-consent box when you upload your file.

INSTANT PRIZES

There is a council branded treasure trail rock at four of the locations! Be sure to keep an eye out for a small, smooth rock the size of your palm with the council logo listed. If you find a mystery rock, see the reception at that location and hand in the rock to claim your instant prize! Please note the mystery rocks will be located in easy to find places on the ground (not at height) and will not be buried under the ground. They will not be located in any bushes or undergrowth.

* Note - The mystery rocks will only be available once per day at the four locations and only during the location opening hours. Check with each Treasure Trail location when you arrive and they can advise if the mystery rock has already been found for that day.

Remember to dress up for the occasion - the best dressed team will win a sensational Sugar Shed hamper! Pirate, adventurer, explorer, even Ken and Barbie, anything will do!

If you get stuck on the trail and can’t go any further, remember to use your scurvy sea dog teammates, Google it, or message a friend (aka the Trail Master!) for a hint. Trail Master email - communications@mackay.qld.gov.au.
